It's main function is to create compressed self-extracting executables for Windows. It does a nice job of this, and has been extensively tested for years. There have been tens of thousands of users for this program so it is a common choice when single file distribution is needed.
It auto-detects certain directories which make it a nice choice for installing fonts and screen-savers. The weakest point is that this program does not create an uninstall.
Pack-X is a simple compressed self-extracting executables creator.
